Funny how River slapping the Doctor like twice constitutes an abusive relationship. Nevermind all the other signs of abuse that their relationship doesn’t meet, River gets mad at the Doctor for doing life threateningly stupid thing and…

Not a tangent, it’s part and parcel of exactly your point. A certain percentage of people across fandoms react that way to any female fictional character that acts that way- in other words it’s part of the bigger picture of sexist double standards directed toward female characters. It’s about a sexist reaction against females who have any kind of agency, who call the males on their stupid/dangerous behavior.

Fandoms tend to be too insular and think this shocking behavior is singular to their fandom. It’s not. It’s a problem that needs to be addressed across fandoms. I’d like to see women and men disgusted with this across fandoms start calling it out whenever they see it in any fandom. It’s past time to end allowing these jerks to go unchallenged. I’ve been in many fandoms over a number of  years, and I’m sick and tired of seeing this same garbage pop up in fandom after fandom since the 1990’s! Enough!

It is a tangent. You’re going on about a semi-major social issue on my post complaining about a small group of fandom people.

And I am just not prepared for major social issues to be discussed/hashed out on one of my posts.

I recognize that this is an actual issue, but can you please not on my posts. I’m asking you.

Funny how River slapping the Doctor like twice constitutes an abusive relationship. Nevermind all the other signs of abuse that their relationship doesn’t meet, River gets mad at the Doctor for doing life threateningly stupid thing and occasionally impulsively punishes him for them. Worst relationship ever.

Funny how this only comes up if it’s the fictional female who does the smacking (even amongst western viewers of anime and manga who darn well know it’s been a trope for strong willed female characters since at least the 70’s.) but if the male in the narrative displays true physically and sexually abusive/domineering/ psychological abusive behaviors to these same people it’s “hot and sexy” (50 shades of grey, porn, video games, gangsta rap, etc…)

I get your point, and it is a good one, it just doesn’t have anything to do with mine.

I was just being sarcastic about the idea that’s sprung up among the anti-fans that the Doctor’s and River’s relationship is abusive.

You kind of went off on a tangent. Yes, it is a good point. Yes, it is an important issue. But it doesn’t match up with what I’m saying.
